Tough spring.
My happy/busy life was abruptly interrupted with a serious car accident on March 15th, when I was rear ended while driving on the Pike, from seemingly out of nowhere. I didn’t realize how long the road to recovery was going to be or how deep my “soft injury” was. I had no idea the amount of weekly therapy appointments I would have to schedule while rescheduling my tattoo appointments or how much paperwork would be required of me with a concussion. I had no idea how much I would learn about my brain, my attention span, the connectivity of my body’s systems, calming my nervous system, managing anxiety through it all and working toward releasing the trauma so that I could get back to my life. I had no idea how I would cry for days at a time and just be so angry and emotional. I didn’t know how my bills would get paid, when the pain in my neck/shoulders/head would stop… or when I would be able to hold a conversation without needing to “palm” so that the dizziness and sensitivity to light and sound would go back down to a manageable level. I still needed to show up for my teenagers and family/home everyday and find a way to carve out time to heal myself at the same time. It made me realize that the pace I had been holding for years desperately needed balance. It was my turn to pay attention to myself and it had been years. Guys, you know me. You know I always try to find the silver lining and the lesson and move forward in love but this.. I’m still hurting but I’m healing and doing everything in my power to get back to tattooing in a few weeks with clearance from my dr and concussion specialists.
